North Ossetian State Medical Academy
North Ossetian State Medical Academy is the centre of higher medical and pharmaceutical education in North Ossetian. North Ossetian State Medical Academy every year trains more than 3000 students. North Ossetian State Medical Academy was established in 1939. In 1974 North Ossetia Medical Institute opened the faculty of paediatrics. 1988 North Ossetian Medical Institute introduced the faculty of advanced medicine. In 1993 North Ossetian Medical Institute organized the dental faculty. In 1995 North Ossetian Medical Institute received the status of the medical academy.
Over the past decennium, North Ossetian State Medical Academy staff has received more than 66 patents, registered more than 100 innovations and published 3220 scientific papers. Today North Ossetian State Medical Academy has 39 departments with 470 doctors and professors, private clinics, Central Research Laboratory, psychological and educational services, centres of practical training and testing, a modern library with electronic reading room and 21 computer classes. NOSU also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, sports facilities and activities. Till now 14300 students have been trained in North Ossetian State Medical Academy. The Medical degrees offered by North Ossetian State Medical Academy is recognised by WHO and Medical council of India (MCI).

Location & Climate
North Ossetia is located in the Caucasus mixed forests ecoregion. This ecoregion is located along the Caucasus Mountains between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. It has one of the highest levels of species endemism and diversity in the world. The climate of North Ossetia is Humid continental climate and is characterised by cold winters and cool summers. Average temperature in February (the coldest month) is −9 °C to +12 °C in July. Average annual precipitation is 800 mm.
Population and society

Culture and folk art
Russia has over 50,000 state public libraries in all possession of over a billion books. There are about 1500 museums (historical, ethnographic, natural sciences, technology, the memorial of folk crafts, fine and applied arts and many others). Twenty open-air ethnographic museums present folk architecture, arts and everyday life. Today, folk art in Russia survives in two basic forms – handicrafts skilled on a broad scale and works of art build by gifted persons working at home.
