Studying towards an MBBS in China is 70% cheaper than undertaking a similar program in the US or UK. The US MD program course (equivalent to MBBS) cost around USD 160,000-200,000. This excludes four years of Pre-med study. While a student can complete an MBBS course from any of the China's medical university list for 6 years for only USD 30,000 – 50,000. Compared to the rest of the world the fees charged for MBBS courses in China are expansively reasonable. The charges of tutoring in the universities in China are subsidized by the Ministry of Public Health of the Chinese Government. All in all, It is very economical for international students to study in China.

Introduction About Yangzhou University

Yangzhou University (YZU) is a key comprehensive university in Jiangsu Province. As one of the largest universities in the most economically vigorous area in China, YZU has been striving to provide quality education to its students ever since 1902. Today YZU offers 123 undergraduate programs, 198 master’s programs, 45 doctoral programs in 27 schools. More than 33,000 undergraduates and over 9,000 graduates are studying full-time on its 8 campuses. In addition to that, there are around 11,000 adult students studying part-time in its continuing education programs. Now YZU has more than 600 long-term international students enrolled in Bachelor, Master and Doctoral degree, YZU accepts about 100 short-term students per year.

YZU covers an area of about 4,090 mu (or some 273 hectares) with a floor area of 1.17 million square meters. Its eight campuses are located closely in the downtown area of Yangzhou. The University also owns experimental factories, farms, an animal hospital, an affiliated high school and affiliated clinical hospitals with a full range of modern facilities to meet the needs of teaching, research and student internships. YZU attaches great importance to international exchange and cooperation. It has set up close links and academic relations with a number of institutions of research and higher education in over 38 countries and regions.

YZU is one of the earliest-opened universities approved by the Ministry of Education to admit international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan. It is also one of the universities to accept students funded by Chinese Government Scholarship. YZU opens its door not only to the incoming foreign students, but also through the Confucius Institute established in Kennesaw State University in Georgia, USA and Queensland University of Technology, Australia.

Education in Yangzhou University

About 3,800 faculty and staff members are working in YZU, of which over 2,100 are full-time teachers including 1,430 professors and associate professors and 1 academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. As one of the first among colleges and universities allowed to grant master and doctoral degree, YZU now has 13 mobile stations for post-doctors, 11 doctoral programs in primary-level disciplines, 44 master programs in primary-level disciplines, as well as 14 granting rights in doctoral and master degree targeting at students for continuing education.

YZU has 6 State-level Specialized Majors, 14 State-level Key Quality Courses, 1 State-level Bilingual Teaching Demonstration Course, 3 State-level Teaching Teams, 1 State-level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center, 3 National Base for Talent Training with Cooperation in Agriculture, Science and Education, 20 Joint Labs with the Central Government, 29 Provincial-level Distinctive Majors, 15 Provincial-level Prestigious Majors and 14 Provincial-level Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers in Basic Course.



There are four libraries at HUST: the Old Library, the Shaw Library (New Library), the Medical Library and the Architecture Library. The Old Library and the Shaw Library are located in the center of main campus. The Old Library was designed and constructed in Soviet-Union style in the 1950s. It plays a major role in book circulation and conference hosting. It also provides classrooms for audio-video teaching program and some group-study programs.

YZU has seven libraries with 3.25 million volumes of books and journals. The libraries have a collection of rare Chinese classics. The university has its own Yangzhou University Journal (Humanities and Social Sciences Edition, Natural Science Edition and Higher Education Research Edition), Jiangsu Agricultural Research, Jiangsu Clinical Medicine Journal and Yangzhou University Cuisine Journal.

A central district of Yangzhou city, Hanjiang is known as one of the greenest and the best area to reside in the city. It has 10 administrative divisions and plenty of modern recreation areas. Local architecture is also modern, and the residents of the district are provided with all services and facilities, staring from shopping centers and museums, and ending up with educational establishments and sports clubs.


Yangzhou University provides on-campus lodging with canteens and recreational facilities. The hotel-like rooms, with air-conditioner, TV set, telephone and independent bathroom is at the rates of 2.5 – 3 dollars for twin-bed room per person per night and 4.5 -- 6 dollars for single-bed room per person per night.

The international students lodge is on the Slender West Lake Campus. The Lake becomes a backyard of the building. In front of it, there is a big lotus flower pond and in spring and summer, the pond is colorful. It is near the downtown area, but it is very quiet. The location has impressed many tenants and visitors.

In each room, there are two beds, two bookshelves, two chairs, and two table lamps, two round chairs with a tea-table and some other necessary furniture and utensils. On each floor, there is a large kitchen which can serve ten people to cook at the same time. International students can also eat at our students' dining room, which is only five minutes’ walk away. Students must put 200 Yuan (approximately $25) for deposit, which will be refunded upon your leaving if there is nothing unsettled. Utility (water, hot water, gas and electricity) is included in the room fee, but limited.


Jiangsu is located in Yangtze River Delta, and the land size is 102,600km², with a population of nearly 80 million. This province is under the influence of monsoons with the warm-temperate/semi-humid and subtropical/humid zones. The seasons have clear-cut changes and the frequent “plum” rains are between spring and summer. Typhoon accompanied with rainstorms usually happen in late summer and early autumn. In addition, this province has occasional frost, dry and hot winds, and hailstorms. The average temperature ranges from -2°C to 4°C in January and 26°C to 29°C in July. The annual average rainfall is between 800 to 1,200 mm, wither higher precipitation in the southeast and lower in the northwest. Sixty percent of the rainfall is during the summer in the northeast.
