Introduction About Moscow State University Of Medicine And Dentistry

Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry is the leading national institution to train medical specialists in the field of Dentistry. The University is ranked among top medical schools in the country. It was established more than 80 years ago as Moscow Medical Institute of Dentistry. The school is also known as The Third Moscow Medical Institute. In August 1999 it was granted by a status of a university and since this time is named Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry.

Now the University is educational establishment offering different undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate medical programmes. It serves as head organization in most national scientific and educational projects in the field of Dentistry. The University includes 5 faculties (Dentistry, General Medicine, Further training of dentists, Postgraduate education, Nursery), several clinics, hospitals and research institutes (including the Center of Clinical Diagnostics, Center of Cosmetic Surgery, Center of Rehabilitation, Children Center of Implantology, Clinical Center for High Technologies and some others), libraries, museums, and many other facilities. There are 82 scientific and clinical departments. The University's stuff includes more than 200 full professors and about 360 associate of professors. They deliver lectures to more than 5000 students from all over the world. Prospective interns of the University may choose their specialty among 39 items.

The teaching of international students started here in 1955. During these years about 500 students from over 35 countries received MD degree from the University. A special office of Dean on International students affairs is responsible for consideration of all problems concerning your study and life at the University. International students of the University are provided by all textbooks and guides required for free. In questions of accommodation they may select among some University hostels, which are according to service offered, type of rooms, and fees.

Education in Moscow State University Of Medicine And Dentistry

Pre-university training:
prepares international students to study Medicine in Russia language. The programme includes study of Russian language, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
Duration of study: 8-10 months.
MD. Faculty of Medicine:
The course is taught Russian language only.
Duration of the study: 6 years.
Faculty of Dentistry:
prepares MD graduates in specialization "Dentistry". The course is taught Russian language only.
Duration of study: 5 years.
Faculty of postgraduate education:
Medical graduates are offered to get further education in several fields of medicine (36 disciplines at all).
Internship (Residence):
a special training for MD allow to get primary specialization in clinical medicine without granting a degree
Duration of study: 2 years.
PhD projects:
a postgraduate practice and work in clinics toward PhD degree.
Duration of study: 3-4 years.



  • Tampering, mutilation and stealing of books and other reading materials or part of it and other similar acts are punishable by either loss of library privileges or be subjected to disciplinary action
  • Chairs must be pushed back quietly to their proper places after using them
  • Use of library card or borrower’s card: Only students with library cards properly validated by the librarian shall be allowed to borrow books and other reading materials for overnight use. The card is non-transferable and the owner is held liable for every book drawn. Issuance of another card in case of loss is worth Php 5.00
  • The graduate collection is intended primarily for the graduate school students (masteral and doctoral) and graduate faculty. Undergraduate students may be allowed to use upon request by subject professor. e.g. graduate theses.

Moscow is a serene and picturesque land, arousing romance in its every bit and byte, the city is located on the banks of the river Moskova which lends the name Moscow to this marvelous city. The climate is exceptionally moderate with temperature amplitude of 28 degrees Celsius. The cool period starts by end of September and lasts till mid May. The rainfall ranges from 560-650 mm per year from April to October. Snowfall usually happens between November to April. In spite of all the weather schedules it still remains quite unstable and at times unpredictable thus making mockery of the weather forecaster.

The city houses more than 100 museums and exhibition houses, 30+ professional theatres and concert halls, numerous cinema halls, clubs and civic centers. On the sport front it has hordes of swimming pools, archery and Olympic training centers. The trade union sports centre of Krylatskove has an amazing cycling track of 13.5 km in a stadium.


For stays of foreign students The University has protected furnished rooms and apartments in buildings dormitories designed for 2 and 3 persons. There is a gym next to the hostel.

When student arrive to airport he/she will be met and transferred to university. At university student have orientation and welcome brief. After orientation student will be placed at university hostel. During all time of studying at university foreign students are supported by qualified team of International Department. All their needs will be satisfied with pleasure. There is very helpful consultancy for students who have educational difficulties. University has own security system.

All university hostels are secured and have time restrictions for guest to ensure safety and good condition of living. The Russian people are well-wishing and peaceful. Cities are secured by powerful police system observation. You will find that we share dry, cynical humor about people and events. There is no racism at all. Strangers will be extremely friendly with you and be impressed that you made the effort to visit their country over their more visited neighbours.
