Manila Central University, located at the heart of Metro Manila, is a pillar in health science and professional programs in the Philippines. MCU began as a private review class for pharmacy board examination aspirants in 1904 and has since contributed to the overall development of individuals. MCU is committed to do its share in improving the lives of people. It constantly raises its standards and improves its facilities to enable its graduates to meet the challenges and opportunities in the Philippines and around the world.

In 1962, the MCU College of Medicine qualified to be a member of the Association of the Philippine Medical Colleges (APMC). With the support extended to her by the faculty and administration, the College of Medicine has succeeded in pursuing its commitment to medical education. Angtuaco's time the College of Medicine voluntarily reduced its first year admissions by 50% to ensure better quality of graduates. In the same year the Board of Directors of MCU decided to convert the College of Medicine and the hospital into a non-stock and non-profit educational foundation.

Fojas, MCU-FDTMF College of Medicine shifted to the Innovative Curriculum using the Problem Based Strategy. To assist its medical graduates, the MCU Hospital offered training programs in 1971 for its postgraduate trainees in all clinical departments including Anesthesia. In the past, she held various vital positions in the institution such as former Medical Director, former Chief of Professional Clinics, former chairman of the Departments of Pediatrics and Physiology.

Libraries

A spacious facility that is conducive to learning located at the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Floors of the Filemon D. Tanchoco – Learning Resource Center. The library provides instructional and informative materials covering various interests. The collection includes catalogue and updated books for each college. The library also has an updated subscription of foreign and local periodicals. In addition, there are several conference and function rooms for use by students, administration officials, faculty members, employees and guests.

Amenities

The city is historically significant because it was the center of activities for the Katipunan, the secret militant society that launched the Philippine Revolution during the Spanish occupation of the Philippines. It was in a house in Caloocan where secret meetings were held by Andrés Bonifacio and his men, and it was within the city's perimeters where the very first armed encounter took place between the Katipunan and the Spaniards.

Accommodation

The college provides hostel to the international students. Two persons share a room with air conditioner, attached bathroom, color TV, telephone, bed with required amenities and furniture, free hot―drinking--- water heater, refriger, public laundry and kitchen, internet access. Students are required to pay the electricity and water they used.

On campus accommodation required for undergraduates. On or out of campus possible for post-graduates. Hostel facility with each room equipped with CTV, individual bed, broadband internet line, table/chair, AC, geyser, water dispenser,etc with 24 hours on duty hostel warden.

Climate

  • A lot of rain (rainy season) falls in the months: May, June, July, August, September, October and November.
