About China

China, an ancient, mysterious and beautiful land, is always appealing to adventurous foreign visitors. As the third largest country in the world occupying an area of 9,600,000 sq km, it spans 62 degrees of longitude and 49 degrees of latitude. Studying towards an MBBS in China is 70% cheaper than undertaking a similar program in the US or UK. The US MD program course (equivalent to MBBS) cost around USD 160,000-200,000. This excludes four years of Pre-med study. While a student can complete an MBBS course from any of the China's medical university list for 6 years for only USD 30,000 – 50,000. Compared to the rest of the world the fees charged for MBBS courses in China are expansively reasonable. The charges of tutoring in the universities in China are subsidized by the Ministry of Public Health of the Chinese Government. All in all, It is very economical for international students to study in China.

Introduction About Fujian Medical University

In FJMU, there are 2 research stations that offer postdoctoral fellowships (for Clinical Medicine and Basic Medical Sciences), 1 key laboratory of the Ministry of Education, 7 key laboratories & research centers jointly supported by the Ministry of Education and Fujian Province, 12 provincial key disciplines, 5 key laboratories of Fujian, and 19 provincial scientific research institutes.

FJMU currently provides 25 bachelor programs, including Clinical Medicine (7-Year Program and 5-Year Program), Stomatology, Preventive Medicine, Medical Laboratory Tests and Analysis, Anesthesiology, Medical Imaging, Nursing, Pharmacy, Public Utilities Management, Social Work, etc.

At present, in Basic Medical Sciences, Clinical Medicine, Clinical Stomatology and Pharmacology, FJMU confers doctoral degrees, as well as master's degrees which also cover Biology, Stomatology, Public Health and Preventive Medicine, Integrative Medicine, Pharmacy, and Social Medicine and Health Care Management.

Today, as a medical center in the Western Taiwan Straits Economic Zone, the University is fully committed to her mission to cultivate medical minds, conduct scientific research and development, explore disease diagnosis, treatment, and prevention, and to provide health care and social service.

Education in Fujian Medical University

There are over 5304 staff members on post, among which there are over 736 teachers on campus. Libraries

It has a total collection of 1.5 million volumes comprising 0.792 million paper volumes and 0.958 million digital volumes. Now the library has developed a collection system with characteristics of Fujian Medical University, featuring the modern medicine and biology collection which is supplemented by the human and social sciences collection. The library in the main campus was honored by the State Health and Education Department as the provincial central library of the national medicine library and literature resources sharing network in April, 1991.

There are 6 reading rooms with 1200 seats and 256 reader-use computers, in which books can be stored, read and borrowed. There is also a school history exhibition hall and a life science hall. The completion of Shangjie Campus Library marks a further step in the hardware facility construction for the library and the entire university, offering a better service platform for teaching, scientific research, medical treatment and management and giving a strong support for our university to ascend among China’s advanced provincial medical universities.

Located in the lower reaches of the Min River, the capital city of Fujian Province, The cultured sights of Fuzhou are not as overwhelming as many of the top attractions in China, but the modern infrastructures of supporting establishments for tourism are complete and a dazzling array of local dishes and snacks await your patronage. The climate of Fuzhou is comfortable, affording tourists the opportunity to visit the city all the year round, especially between April and November. Fuzhou is a tourist city that boasts both natural and manmade sights.

  • Currently FMU has two campuses in Shangjie and Taijiang, with a total land area of about 87 hectares and a building area of 379,000 square meters. Apartment for International Students is in Shangjie Campus, the accommodation’s price is approximately 1,000 or 1,250 per month(depending on actual situation.

Climate

The city has a warm and humid subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by short winter and long summer. It has 326 freefrost days. The wind blows mainly from northeast, in summer the wind is mainly southerly. From July to September, the city would be experiencing its typhoon season, during this time typhoon would land on the city twice a year on average. Average annual sunlight hours: 1700 - 1980 hours Average annual volume of rainfalls: 900 - 2100mm Average annual temperature: 16 - 20 °C

The best season for travelling is autumn and winter, in such seasons, you can see the beauty of the south China: bright sunshine, evergreen trees, and attractive hot springs. You can also visit some scenic spots, such as Yongquan temple, Yongtai mountain and Hot Spring park.
