FMGE clearance by Indian foreign medical graduates is being on the tougher side – What is the way out?

Foreign medical graduation or abroad MBBS being the way out for many of those Indian medical aspirants who strictly want to pursue their dream of becoming a doctor, brings in a major barrier in the form of FMGE.

Providing the license for practicing in India as a doctor, hugely depends on clearing the FMG examination. This being the widespread scenario, a recent data study has shown the status quo of Indian Foreign Medical Graduates in relation to clearing FMGE.

A recent study shows that only 15 % of Indian foreign medical graduates were able to clear FMGE. As per the data, roughly 61,500 foreign MBBS graduates appeared for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) conducted by the National Board of Examination between 2015 and 2018, of which only around 8,700 were able to qualify.

With all the above said state in mind, there is no need for the future Indian medical aspirants to overthrow the option of abroad MBBS, because clearing FMGE is just one block and it stands nowhere when compared to the huge array of benefits and advantages that come along with studying MBBS abroad.

Infact, data also shows that not a single MBBS graduate from Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Germany, Grenada, Haiti, Hungary, Lithuania, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Zambia were able to clear the exam.
